Deogiri Fort, also known as Daulatabad Fort, is a historic hill fortress located near Aurangabad (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar) in Maharashtra. Built around the 12th century by King Bhillama V of the Yadava dynasty, it was originally named Deogiri, meaning “Hill of the Gods.”

Due to its strong natural defenses and strategic location, the fort became one of the most powerful fortresses in India. In 1296, it was captured by Alauddin Khilji, marking the beginning of Delhi Sultanate control over the Deccan.
